PURPOSE: To reliably prevent entrance of solar beams in a vehicle by providing an interference filter containing a plurality of light-reflection metal layers and a reflection suppression layer and a gradient band to reflect solar energy and gradually increase in thickness toward a lateral edge of the band.

CONSTITUTION: A sunlight shield film 10 for a vehicle windshield W contains a high permeability interference filter part 12 in a multilayer film form and this film 12 has light reflective metallic silver layers 14 and 16, being two layers substantially uniform in thickness, between which a dielectric spacer layer 20 is sandwiched. The surface on the opposite side of each of the layers 14 and 16 is surface-engaged adjacently to dielectric layers 18 and 21 for reflection suppression. The shield film 10 is provided with a gradient band 22 situated above the direct line of forward vision passing through the vehicle windshield and arranged as the continuos part of the interference filter 12 to reflect and remove solar energy and gradually increased in thickness toward a lateral edge. The extension part 24 is formed integrally with a layer 14. This sunlight shield film 10 is supported on a transparent base sheet 40, such as a thermoplastic sheet.
