Title:
OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTOR RECEPTACLE HAVING SWITCHING CAPABILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3884301
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connector receptacle especially having switching capability in respect to an optical connection adaptor to be used for optical fiber transmission.
SOLUTION: The optical fiber connector adaptor has a sensing mechanism for judging when an adaptor has a connector plug in its inside and when the adaptor is vacant or emply. The sensing mechanism creates an indication of the state of the adaptor to be transmitted to a control circuit. The control circuit applys optical energy to the adaptor in response to the display of the sensing mechanism, e.g. a laser is activated or de-activated. The laser is de-activated when the connector plug is not included in the adaptor and activated when the connector plug is located on a determined position in the adaptor. In two examples of this invention, the sensing mechanism informs the urgent insertion or withdrawal of the connector plug into/from the adaptor by a signal.
