Title:
OPTICAL FIBER COOLING MECHANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS589102
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently radiate and diffuse heat generated by an optical fiber in case of transmitting a large output laser, by sheathing the optical fiber by use of a material which is excellent in its heat conductivity.

CONSTITUTION: A sheathing material 2 with excellent heat conductivity, such as a metallic net wire, etc. is wound and sutck on an optical fiber such as an infrared fiber, etc., also said sheathing material is covered with a housing 3, and into a space between this sheathing material 2 and the jacket 3, a cooling wind is led through a suitable cooling device from one end of the fiber 1. Or it is also possible to absorb heat generated in the fiber 1 by connecting the metallic net wire 2 to a cooler 5 through a metallic wire 6 with excellent heat conductivity, without providing a space between the jacket 3 and the metallic net wire 2.
