Title:
OPTICAL FIBER FOR FIRE DETECTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02217806
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow the use of the optical fiber as a sensor which is simple in mechanism, allows easy working, such as laying, and is small in shape, light in weight and low in cost by constituting the sensor of a heat shrinkable member having the property to shrink by heating and the optical fiber which is bent when the heat shrinkable member shrinks. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of the heat shrinkable member (in the form of a cord or bar) 2 are adhered to the optical fiber 1 by an adhesive agent. Care is taken of the length and adhesive position to prevent the over slackening of the heat shrinkable member 2 and the bending of the optical fiber 1 at room temp. The heat shrinkable member 2 is shrunk by the heat thereof and the optical fiber 1 is bent. The measurement data as to about which degree of the temp. (degree of a fire) is obtd. by making a light signal incident to, for example, one end of the optical fiber 1 and measuring the intensity of the light signal which propagates in the optical fiber 1 and is emitted from the other end. The optical fiber is utilizable as the sensor part which allows the easy work, such as laying and is small in size, light in weight and low in price in a fire detecting system.
