To provide an optical fiber laser apparatus for optical communication having functions to control a variation in output light beam of an optical fiber laser, generation of vertical mode, and to prevent reduction of gain and the modulating function.
An optical fiber 5 having an optical beam amplifying function is provided with a resonator 6 for generation of resonance of light beams within the fiber and a scattering generator 9 to generate light scattering within the fiber. The scattering generator 9 is set in the amount of the scattering so that the total loss of the resonator 6 including the scattering to be generated becomes lower than a gain generated in the optical fiber 5. With adequate setting in the amount of the scattering, the number of times of the generation of a longitudinal mode can be controlled.
