Abstract:

To perform continuous monitoring and alarming by receiving optical fiber cables, selecting one or more sets of the cables among the cables and connecting them to a testing device for generating, transmitting, receiving and analyzing optical signals.

An optical switch 73 is provided under an upper track 40 and performs the role of switching all the functions of an operation center to one of the optical fiber cables connected to the bay. A remote testing device 74 sends the signals of at least one wavelength to the selected optical fiber cable and receives reflection from the signals from some physical non-continuity or breakage of the cable. The testing device 74 is under the control of a system controller(SC) 78, provided with various input/output means, and the SC 78 is a computer operated by an algorithm for the signal transmission of monitoring, testing or alarming.
