Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize easy and speedy terminal coupling with small-sized, simple constitution by providing a laminated support member and also provided a laminated support member which crosses it at right angles with optical fiber terminals oppositely. CONSTITUTION:Grip moving devices 21 and 31 move a Y terminal 14 and an X terminal 24 in an X-Y direction and the ferrules 16 and 25 of the terminals 14 and 24 are positioned nearly concentrically. Then the operation rod 43 of the X terminal 24 is moved projecting toward the Y terminal 14 to move a movable head 42 and the ferrule 25 of the terminal 24 is inserted into the split sleeve 57 of the terminal 14 to couple the tips of the ferrules 16 and 26 while positioning the ferrules 16 and 25 of the body accurately concentrically. The tip end surfaces of the ferrules 16 and 25 are pressed against each other by an elastic material 49 and a compression spring 54. Then the operation rod 28 of the terminal 24 is rotated to lock the movable head 42 by a coupling member 50. The terminals 24 and 24 once coupled through the split sleeve 57 are fixed at the coupling position even when released from the device 31 and 21.
