To provide an optical film used for a protective film or the like for a polarizing plate of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, causing no air entrainment phenomenon by raking out entrainment air in a non-contact manner when winding the wide optical film, obtaining a wide film roll deformed little with the lapse of time, thereby meeting demands for the wide width and high quality of the protective film or the like for the polarizing plate, and to provide an optical film winding method, the polarizing plate using the optical film, and a display device.
In winding the long-sized optical film with a width of 1,600-2,400 mm in roll shape, the film is wound while pressing it with air by spraying air from an air jet nozzle in a film winding upstream direction from a position on the outer surface of the film corresponding to an angle range of 0-45 in a film winding direction centering on a center axis of a film winding roll from a winding start position of the film winding roll.
