PURPOSE: To obtain an optical information element which varies analogically in photodetection sensitivity by irradiation light with memories and holds the state stably for a long time, and of which memory can be erased reversibly by being heated, by incorporating a specific thioketone-based compound in a memory layer.
CONSTITUTION: A photoelectric conversion layer and the memory layer which functions to keep conductivity, varied by specific-wavelength light irradiation, even after light is cut off are provided between electrodes at least one of which transmits light, and the thioketone-based compound shown by the formula is incorporated in the memory layer. This compound is used as a compound having a memory performance granting function. In the formula, each of Ar1 and Ar2 is an aromatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic heterocyclic group which may have a substitute group. Here, X is an atom which is more than bivalent such as oxygen, sulfer nitrogen, selenium, and tellurium, and oxygen, sulfer, and nitrogen are preferable and, sulfer is specially preferable. An atom which is more than tervalent may have a substitutent such as an alkyl group and an acryl.
