The control means (#1003-#1006) allow a correcting means to correct shake in the case of photographing when it is judged that the shake correction operation by a correcting means is required during the operation of a shake-proof system, allow a shake-proof operation state display means to perform shake-proof unstable display or shake-proof stable display based on the output of a shake detecting means, permit the correcting means not to perform a shake correction operation in the case of photographing when it is judged that the shake correction operation by the correcting means is not required and also permit a shake-proof operation state displaying means to display shake-proof stability regardless of the output of the shake detecting means.
