Title:
OPTICAL INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04204633
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow the course of light to be switched in a desired direction by dividing at least either of two pieces of electrodes sandwiching an nonlinear optical optical film to plural blocks and selectively impressing voltages to the divided electrodes, thereby changing the refractive index of the nonlinear optical film. CONSTITUTION:A circuit board can be an IC board, TFT (a-SiTFT) or the like. The rectangular strip-shaped lower electrodes 2 which can be driven by the circuit board 1, the org. nonlinear optical film 3 and the upper electrode 4 are successively laminated thereon. The electrodes 2 and 4 can be respectively constituted of a commonly used electrode material, such as ITO. The desired refractive index distribution is created and the space distribution of incident light is converted to a desired exit light profile by controlling the impressed voltages to the respective electrodes of the lower electrode 2. This optical IC can be utilized for a dynamic optical interconnection neuro element, matrix optical switch, VWOIC deflector, etc.
