Abstract:

To provide an optical line selecting switch permitting to substantially reduce the number of optical codes and optical connectors to be used.

A directive coupler 132 and communicating waveguide 133a-133d connecting to the caupler 132 in each direction are formed on an optical waveguide substrate 131; an internal optical cable 20 is connected with the communicating waveguide 133a and an external optical cable 133b is connected with the communicating cable 133b; the communicating waveguides 133c, 133d are provided with a non-reflective processing part 138; a 1st distributing waveguide 135 orthogonal to the communicating waveguides 133c, 133d is formed on the optical waveguide 131; a line test device is connected with the 1st distributing waveguide 135; a groove 136, which has a wall face deep enough to shield the waveguides 133c, 135 and can bidirectionally and totally reflect light between the waveguides 133c, 135, is arranged at the intersection of the communicating waveguide 133c and the 1st distributing waveguides 135; a liquid having an reflective index equal to the waveguides 133c, 135 is partially injected into the groove 136.
