Abstract:

To provide an optical module which enables high speed data transmission exceeding 10 Gbps and to provide an image forming apparatus using the same.

In the optical module, an optical modulator 5 constituted of: a light emitting element 1; light receiving elements 2a and 2b; and an optical waveguide, and an optical transmission medium 7 are optically coupled and at least the light emitting element 1, the light receiving elements 2a and 2b, and the optical modulator 5 are housed in a single casing consisting of a casing upper part 11 and a casing lower part 12.
