Abstract:

To provide an optical module, having a simple structure in which fracture of an optical fiber is prevented as much as possible, an optical fiber can be connected accurately to an optical device, and which can be made small in size exhibits long-term reliability and is superior in rapid processing property.

The optical module M is equipped with a first substrate 3 on which an optical fiber 2, a photosemiconductor device 1 to be optically connected to the optical fiber 2 and a conductor connected to the photosemiconductor device 1 are mounted, and with a second substrate 5 on which the first substrate 3 is mounted, and which has a conductor for energizing the first conductor. In the module, at least the space between the optical fiber 2 and the photosemiconductor device 1 is sealed with a moisture-resistant transparent resin, and at least the transparent resin 17 is covered with an opaque resin 18.
