Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the small-sized and low-price optical module which has small crosstalk by facilitating adjustments of the optical coupling between a light emitting/receiving element and waveguides. CONSTITUTION:Light is emitted by the light emitting element 8, passed through plane microlenses 7 and propagated in the multiplexing waveguide, and coupled with an optical fiber 2. The light from the optical fiber 2, on the other hand, is demultiplexed by a directional coupling part 3, propagated in the demultiplexing waveguide 4 and passed through the plane microlenses 7, and made incident on the light receiving element 9 and converged on the light receiving element. Further, a thin film which removes stray light is formed on the plane microlenses 7 so as to reduce the optical crosstalk.
