To provide an optical network control method that detects optical characteristics of a wavelength path in a short time without the need for a new measuring instrument, and is speedily adapted to large path change and accommodation change of the network.
There are provided an optical network comprising a plurality of optical node devices provided with a plurality of optical transponders performing transmission between the optical network and a clinet through an optical system mechanism outputting light of an arbitrary wavelength in a wavelength multiplex optical signal input from an arbitrary route to an arbitrary route; and an optical network control method including retrieving a no-wavelength path as an optical path which is not used for communication, making an optical path setting for the no-wavelength path for an optical transponder of an optical node device in the no-wavelength path, acquiring preset optical characteristic information of the no-wavelength path by the optical transponder, determining transmission setting information on the no-wavelength path on the basis of the acquired optical characteristic information, storing and managing transmission setting information determined for the no-wavelength path, and structuring the optical network using the stored and managed transmission setting information.
