Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical probe in which the spot diameter can be minimized and transmission efficiency of light can be enhanced.
SOLUTION: In the optical probe for obtaining a micro spot light, a rod-like glass body 10 having rectangular cross-section is employed as a core for propagating light. The glass body 10 is constricted on the forward end side to decrease the diameter of a micro end face part 11 at the forward end. Furthermore, the glass body 10 is coated with a light absorber 12 of metal film on the side face thereof perpendicular to the polarizing direction of light.
