To prevent reflection on a face panel of a cathode-ray by applying a coat of an antireflection film formed by laminating a metal film and a transparent dielectric film for the purpose of reducing reflection of outside light on the surface of the cathode-ray tube and enlarging a display contrast.
An outer surface of a face panel for this cathode-ray tube is coated with an antireflection film 3 comprising a praseodymium titanate film of 44.9 nm thickness as a first layer, an alloy film of nickel and iron of 4.9 nm thickness as a second layer, a praseodymium titanate film of 53.4 nm thickness as a third layer, an alloy film of nickel and iron of 3.9 nm thickness as a forth layer, a praseodymium titanate film of 20.6 nm thickness as a fifth layer, and a magnesium fluoride film of 84.7 nm thickness as a sixth layer, laminated in this order. Thereby, a double image cannot be generated, electrification and reflection of outside light in the surface of the cathode-ray tube can be prevented, and a video image contrast can be increased.
