To provide a two-layer type optical recording medium wherein uniformity of reflectance of the entire surface of a second recording plate is secured with reduced fluctuation and signal characteristics in the second recording layer is satisfactory and to provide its manufacturing method.
The optical recording medium is characterized in that a first recording plate formed by layering a first recording layer consisting mainly of an organic dye, a first semitransmissive reflection layer on a first substrate having a guide groove and a second recording plate formed by sequentially layering at least a second reflection layer, an inorganic film layer 1, a second recording layer consisting mainly of an organic dye and an inorganic film layer 2 on a second substrate having a guide groove are stuck to each other via a transparent intermediate layer so that the both substrates are formed on the outer sides, wherein the uniformity of the reflectance of the entire surface of the second recording plate is within 10%. The uniformity of the reflectance is represented by formula: uniformity of the reflectance=[(A-B)/(A+B)]×100(%) when the maximum reflectance in the surface and the minimum reflectance in the surface are denoted as A and B, respectively.
