Title:
OPTICAL RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60236132
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide interchangeability between disks and interchangeability between devices and to obtain high-density recording and reproducing characteristics by providing grooves to a liquid crystal recording medium and enclosing liquid crystals into the groove.

CONSTITUTION: Glass is used for substrates 17, 18 and the track grooves 19aW 19b are formed to the substrate 18 which is then mated with the flat substrate 17 and is tightly adhered thereto. The liquid crystals 20aW20e are threreby enclosed into the track grooves and a sheet of disk is formed. The grooves are formed by coating photoresist on the substrate 18, irradiating a focused laser beam thereto and exposing the photoresist. The exposed disk is developed and the photoresist in the exposed parts is removed and the glass in said part is etched, by which the grooves are formed in the parts absent to the photoresist. Recording to the high density is made possible by manufacturing the grooves having the narrower groove widths by using a laser beam having a short wavelength in the stage of forming said grooves.
