Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the positional resolution of a good image from a range immediately close to a vehicle and an area on a road comparatively away from the vehicle while using one video camera by positioning the photosensitive sensor area of the video camera having a wide angle lens, of which the aperture angle is specified, so as to receive a specified image section.
SOLUTION: The photosensitive sensor area of the video camera having the wide angle lens, of which the aperture angle (2θ) is at least 60°, is positioned so as to receive the image section, corresponding to a distance between a certain minimum distance from the camera and the most separated area of a capture area. Namely, a video camera 11 is loaded on a road vehicle 10, and its image pickup angle Ω=2θ covers a road area 12 spread from the short distance in front of the front end of the vehicle to an extremely long distance such as an infinitely long distance, for example. In this case, a camera lens 19 is designed as the wide angle lens having the image-pickup angle 2θ at a value of 60°, for example, so that the field of vision of a road area capable of being scanned by the camera 11 can be as close as possible to the vehicle 10 in prescribed azimuth.
