Title:
OPTICAL SCANNER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0588103
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the lightweight, small-sized optical scanner in simple structure which can be made precise or large in angle of deflection and set optionally in scanning speed and has small power consumption. CONSTITUTION:This optical scanner is equipped with an electrostrictive element 10 which is fixed at one end to a base 12 and displaced at the other end by the application of a voltage, a convex mirror 13 which is fixed to the other end of the electrostrictive element 10, a driving circuit 14 which can adjust the voltage applied to the electrostrictive element 10, and a light emitting means 18 which irradiates the mirror surface of the convex mirror 13 with a light beam in a direction different from the displacing direction of the electrostrictive element 10. When the voltage applied to the electrostrictive element 10 is varied by the driving circuit 14 while the light beam is reflected by the mirror surface of the convex mirror 13, the quantity delta of displacement of the electrostrictive element 10 varies with the level of the voltage and even if the quantity of displacement is slight, the angle DELTAgamma of deflection of the beam continuously varies with the radius of curvature of the convex mirror surface 13 to make a scan over a wide range.
