PURPOSE: To provide an optical switch eliminating the variation of the end surface interval of optical fiber with each other and highly accurately performing positioning and suppressing the increase of bonding loss.
CONSTITUTION: A fiber arraying member 3 is constituted by providing a first fiber fixing groove 8 and a second fiber fixing groove 9 on a substrate 6 and fixing plural first optical fibers 2 in the second fiber fixing groove 9. The second optical fiber 4 is supported by a movable head 5 installed at the tip of the movable arm 28 of a carrying mechanism 24 whose driving sources are a first motor 29 and a second motor 46. The movable arm 28 possesses spring performance in a biaxial direction, and the movable head 5 is moved by the arm 28 in the arraying direction of the first optical fiber 2 and the depth direction of the second fiber fixing groove 9, so that switching of the optical switch is performed. When the second optical fiber 4 is inserted into the second optical fiber fixing groove 9 and is optically connected to the first optical fiber 2, a positioning pin provided on the lower surface of the movable head 5 is engaged with a guide groove provided crossing the second fiber fixing groove 9 on the upper surface of the substrate.
