Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the optical system for coupling which has high coupling efficiency even when the projection angle of a light emitting element is large by refracting incident light transmitted through a 1st spherical lens by an optical element interposed between the 1st spherical lens and a 2nd spherical lens so that a spherical aberration is reduced. CONSTITUTION:The light from the light emitting element 1 is transmitted and refracted by the 1st spherical lens 2, made incident on the hemispherical body 10 of the optical element 5 and refracted, and further refracted by a concave optical element 20. Then the light is made incident on the 2nd spherical lens 3 at a position which is not so distant from the optical axis almost in parallel to the optical axis. Consequently, the spherical aberration generated by the lens 3 is reduced and the light which is transmitted through the lens 3 is made incident on the end surface of an optical fiber 4 whose center axis is aligned with the optical axis. Consequently, the spherical aberration of the lens is compensated and the optical fiber coupling optical system is obtained which has coupling efficiency improved even when a light emitting element which is large in projection angle is used.
