Abstract:
To automatically determine the type of an optical fiber included in an optical communication system.SOLUTION: A length calculation unit 31 calculates the length of an optical transmission path 4 on the basis of a transmission time required for transmission of an optical signal SIG transmitted from an optical transmission device 1 to an optical transmission device 2 via the optical transmission path 4 through the optical transmission path 4. A chromatic dispersion calculation unit 32 calculates the chromatic dispersion per unit length of the optical transmission path 4 on the basis of the chromatic dispersion of the optical signal SIG received by the optical transmission device 2 and the length of the optical transmission path 4. A type determination unit 33 determines the type of the optical transmission path 4 on the basis of information indicating the correspondence between the value of chromatic dispersion per unit length and the type of the optical transmission path 4 and the calculated chromatic dispersion per unit length of the optical transmission path 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
