Title:
OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND OPTICAL INTERRUPTION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3776357
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interrupt excitation light automatically or quickly when breaking down fibers or removing connecters even if a Ruffman distribution amplification system is adopted.
SOLUTION: In an optical transmission system, when optical fibers are broken down, large power excitation light is emitted in the air. In this situation, a main signal can not to be received by a receiver, but an optical receiver 1-6 and an optical signal interruption detecting part 1-7 detect the main signal LOS. At that time, an excitation light source 1-5 in the system is interrupted immediately by an excitation light interruption part 1-8. Accordingly, it becomes possible to interrupt within an approximately half of a processe in comparison with a main signal light interruption method of conventional technology (G. 664) and to reduce the interruption time to an approximately half (i.e., several hundreds mili seconds).
