Title:
OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM USING STIMULATED BRILLOUIN SCATTERING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3566274
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new system by using stimulated Brillouin scattering about an optical transmission system using the stimulated Brillouin scattering.
SOLUTION: This optical transmission system has an optical transmitting station, an optical receiving station, an optical transmission line for connecting the optical transmitting station and the optical receiving station, and an optical repeater for relaying light from the optical transmitting station on the optical transmission line. The amplitude of excitation light is modulated with an information signal, and control is made so as to position the threshold of stimulated Brillouin scattering of the optical transmission line between a high level and a low level of a modulated waveform of the excitation light to generate stimulated Brillouin scattering light in the optical transmission line between the optical repeater and the optical receiving station in a direction opposite to the propagation direction of the amplitude-modulated light.
