Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay transmission type optical transmission system which can both collectively and efficiently detect a cable disconnection and identify disconnected cable, thus eliminating the problem in the conventional optical transmission system for which much time is taken for identifying the disconnected cable. SOLUTION: A center station 2 and each relay transmission station 3 detect decline in the light reception level of a reception line. The center station 2 periodically transmits requested data to each terminal station 4 and each relay transmission station 3 one after another, and each terminal station 4 and each relay transmission station 3 return response data to the central station 2. A disconnected line is identified from the detection result about the decline in light reception level and the response data from each terminal station 4 and each relay transmission station 3.
