Abstract:

To provide an optical unit wherein irradiation positions and irradiation ranges on liquid crystal panels corresponding to respective color light rays separated into three colors can be adjusted independently for each color light ray.

Condenser lenses provided with position adjustment means for adjusting an irradiation position on the liquid crystal panel are arranged between a first dichroic mirror for separating white convergent light radiated from a light source into two kinds of color light of first color light and its complementary color light first and a mirror for turning the first color light toward a first image display element side corresponding to the first color light, and between the first dichroic mirror and a second dichroic mirror for separating the complementary color light into second color light and third color light, on an optical path of each color light after the first dichroic mirror.
