To provide an optical waveguide achieving both high refractive index difference and low light scattering and resulting in a lower propagation loss, and to provide an optical waveguide with a lower propagation loss than the conventional type by a special technique such as a self-forming optical waveguide.
An optical waveguide for transmitting light from a light-emitting element includes a core and a clad which are composed of a three-dimensional crosslinked polymer derived from at least (meth) acrylic ester monomer and (meth) allyl monomer. When presence amounts of portions derived from the (meth) acrylic ester monomer per unit mass in the core and the clad are defined as Ac(core) and Ac(clad) respectively, the relation of Ac(core)>Ac(clad) is satisfied.
