Title:
OPTICALLY ACTIVE ALPHA-HALOKETAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06100498
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compds. obtained by stereoselective halogenation of optically active ketals, convertible to α-arylalkanoic acids useful for antiphologistic and analgesic by a stereoselective rearrangement reaction.

CONSTITUTION: The optically active α-haloketals of the formula [Ar is a (substd.) aryl; R is a 1-4C alkyl; R1 and R2 are each OH, OM (M is an alkali metal) or OR3 (R3 is a 1-24C alkyl), etc.; X is a halogen, etc.; both of C with an asterisk are in (R) or (S) configuration] are obtained by mixing 1-(6- methoxy-2-naphtyl)-propan-1-one, L(+) tartaric dimethylate and trimethyl orthoformic ester, after gradually heating to become an uniform soln., adding methanesulfonic acid, refluxing for 2 hours to react, and after cooling at room temp., extraction-treating the reaction mixture with methylene chloride, adding tetra-normalbutylammonium perbromide to the extraction-treated reaction product and keeping at 20°C for 24 hours.
