Abstract:
To obtain an optically active liquid crystal polymer compound which exhibits liquid crystal properties singly or by adding it to a liquid crystal compound or a liquid crystal composition.
A polymer compound consisting of basic units of formula (I) can reveal a liquid crystal phase over a wide temperature range and can be easily produced industrially. It is therefore very useful for a phase compensation film, a cholesteric film, a pitch modifier for a nematic liquid crystal, a polymer dispersion type liquid crystal, a molecular ferroelectric liquid crystal, and optical isomer separation column chromatography.
