Abstract:
To obtain a novel optically anisotropic material capable of using for optical compensating films for enlarging the angle of visibility of a liquid crystal display and further obtain a liquid crystal display element assembled with the optically anisotropic material.
This optically anisotropic material is characterized in that it contains at least one kind of compound having at least two aromatic groups or aromatic heterocyclic groups in arbitrary sites in the molecule and a part capable of forming an intramolecular hydrogen bond.
