To provide an optically transparent material having excellent optical transparency and heat resistance, also having excellent low water absorptivity and adhesion to a metal, and composed of an addition polymer of a norbornene compound; and to provide a molded article comprising the material, and an optical component.
The optically transparent material is composed of the addition polymer of the norbornene compound, composed of only a repeating unit derived from the norbornene compound and containing a repeating unit (a) derived from a norbornene compound having an olefinic carbon-carbon double bond at the outside of the norbornene ring. In another aspect, the optically transparent material is composed of the addition polymer of the norbornene compound, composed of only the repeating unit derived from the norbornene compound and containing a repeating unit (c) derived from a norbornene compound having an epoxy bond at the outside of the norbornene ring, or a crosslinked product thereof.
