Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fabricate an organic EL array collectively on an elongated insulating substrate by forming reflective electrodes of substantially same number as emission dots, a conductor composed of a translucent insulator, and a plurality of transparent electrodes sequentially on an insulating substrate and then forming an insulation film having a window, a hole transport layer, an emission layer, and an electron injection electrode thereon.
SOLUTION: A rectangular planar insulating glass substrate 2 is employed. Any material having high reflectance can be employed for a reflective electrode 3. A photoconductor 4 transmitting the emission wavelength is employed. A transparent electrode is connected electrically with the reflective electrode 3 and transmits the emission wavelength. An insulation film 6 has a window 6a providing an emission dot and when it is formed for each transparent electrode 5, an organic EL array 1 having a plurality of emission dots is realized. A hole transport layer 7 comprises an organic film and, preferably, an emission layer 8 has electron affinity of 2.5 eV or above and an electron injection electrode 9 has a low work function.
