Title:
ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENCE DRIVING CIRCUIT AND ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENCE DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3875173
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL (Electroluminescence) driving circuit which can reduce the electric power consumption of an organic EL display device and the organic EL display device.
SOLUTION: The EL driving circuit decides whether the display data in the next horizontal scanning period is the same as the display data of the present horizontal scanning period or not by a deciding means. When the display data are the same, the driving current of the next EL element connected to a certain pin is substantially the same in values and therefore the resetting by a switching circuit is prohibited by a reset prohibiting circuit relating to the pin to stop the generation of the peak current by a peak current generating circuit of the next horizontal scanning period. When the cathode side of the EL element for scanning connected to the pin is connected to the prescribed reference potential by scanning of a row side scanning circuit, the charge on the anode side of the next EL element connected to the pin terminated of scanning by the row side scanning circuit is supplied to the anode side of the EL element for next scanning to initially charge the EL element and the next EL element is driven by substantially the same current.
