Phosphorescent complexes are designed with intramolecular H-bonding properties to prevent deprotonation of neighboring molecules.
Claim 1 relates to 17 different Markush formulae describing ligands for complexes.
The intramolecular hydrogen-bond characteristic for the claimed complexes is demonstrated in complexes featuring an aromatic nitrogen "N" and a tertiary carbon atom featuring a "C-H" group. This is illustrated in the example of the application below, compound 7, where the hydrogen-bond is between the ring-nitrogen and CH of the isopropyl group.
