To provide an organic electroluminescent element which can be driven in a wide range from low luminance used for a display use of a display device to high luminance used for an exposure optical source use of an image forming device, and which stably operates for a wide luminance range and is superior in a life characteristic; and to provide an exposure device which stably operates for long time by using the element, and the image forming device of high image quality which uses the exposure device.
A pair of electrodes formed of an anode 3 and a cathode 9, and a function layer 8 comprising at least a light emitting layer, and an intermediate layer 5, which are disposed between the electrodes, are arranged. The intermediate layer 5 is constituted in such a way that surface specific resistance becomes more than 106 Ω/SQARE and less than 1012 Ω/SQARE.
