Title:
ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005011610
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an organic electroluminescent element (organic EL element) which has improved luminous efficiency, fully ensures drive stability, and moreover has a simple constitution, while utilizing emission of phosphorescence.

In the organic EL element, a positive electrode, an organic layer including a hole transport layer, a luminous layer and an electron transport layer, and a negative electrode are laminated on a substrate. The hole transport layer is formed between the luminous layer and the positive electrode, and the electron transport layer is formed between the luminous layer and the negative electrode. A hole-blocking layer is not formed between the electron transport layer and the luminous layer. The luminous layer contains as a host material a compound expressed by general formula (I), and as a guest material an organometallic complex, containing at least one metal selected from among Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au. The hole transport layer contains triarylamine dimer having at least two condensed ring aryl groups.
