NEW MATERIAL:The organic germanium compound of formula I .

USE: Antimetabolic agent. The agent is supposed to have both of the pharmacological activity of the uracil fragment and that of the Ge-O bond. It has higher pharmacological characteristics than known organic germanium compounds.

PROCESS: The uracil of formula II with acetylated with acetyl chloride, etc., and the resultant diacetyl derivative of formula III is made to react with trichlorogermane to obtain the trichlorogermyl derivative of formula IV. After separating the intermediate of formula V from the product, the intermediate is hydrolyzed to obtain the compound of formula I .
