Abstract:

PURPOSE:To allow an org. nonlinear optical material to produce a nonlinear optical effect in the crystal state without exhibiting reversal symmetry by forming the material from 5-alkylamino-2-nitroaniline represented by a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:An org. nonlinear optical material is formed from 5-alkyl- amino-2-nitroaniline represented by formula I (where n is an integer of 13-29). This compd. has a nitro group having high electron withdrawing property on the benzene ring, amino groups having high electron donative property at the o- and p-positions and long chain alkyl introduced so as to control reversal symmetry.
