Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new organic thin film material comprising a photochemical reaction product between low molecular weight aromatic compounds, and a method for producing the same.
SOLUTION: A homogeneous and optically transparent organic thin film material having optical and electric functions which comprises an oligomer and/or a polymer obtained by the photochemical reaction, via a free radical- generating group and an unsaturated bond, of a low molecular weight organic molecule of a different type or the same type having such a high vapor pressure that the organic molecule does not deposit directly on the substrate 5 during vacuum deposition is produced by vaporizing the low molecular weight organic molecule in vacuum, generating a molecular beam from the knudsen cell 4 to the substrate 5 and irradiating the light 6 on the substrate 5.
