NEW MATERIAL:An organo-silane compound of formula I (R1 is 1W10C alkyl; R2 is 1W10C alkyl, or alkoxyalkyl; R3 is ethylene or vinylene).
EXAMPLE: 1-Acetoxy-7-trimethoxysilyl-2-octene.
USE: A silane coupling agent. Since the compound has a group reactive with inorganic material and another group reactive with organic material, it has excellent adhesivity and compatibility both to the inorganic material and to the organic material. For example, it improves the strength of a composite composed of glass fiber and a resin.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I (R3 is vinylene) is prepared by reacting an acyloxyoctadiene with a compound III in the presence of Pt catalyst. The acyloxyoctadiene can be obtained by the reaction of a carboxylic acid II with butadiene in the presence of a Pd catalyst. The compound I wherein R3 is ethylene is prepared by hydrogenating the compound I obtained above.
