Abstract:
To provide a novel isobutene oligomer prepared by a preparation method using an organic borate-based catalyst including a hydroxy group-containing compound.SOLUTION: The isobutene oligomer includes: a carbon-carbon double bond positioned at a terminal of the isobutene oligomer; a double bond present in a carbon-carbon bond positioned just adjacently to the terminal of the oligomer; and functional groups of types that may be formed in a case where isomerization reaction is carried out during the cationic polymerization of isobutene, where the functional groups are all inevitably formed if the isomerization reaction is carried out during synthesis of the isobutene oligomer. The isobutene oligomer does not include the functional group represented by the formula f in the figure, where X is a halogen atom. The number average molecular weight of the isobutene oligomer is 1,000 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
