PURPOSE: To obtain a hair-setting compsn. improved in hair-setting capability and in keeping a hair set by reacting a specific organopolysiloxane with a poly(N-acylalkyleneimine) having reactive molecular ends.
CONSTITUTION: An organopolysiloxane which has intra- and intermolecular, not covalently bonded crosslinks, does not undergo breakage nor plastic deformation at 0-15% elongation at 20°C and a relative humidity of 65%, is solid at ordinary temp. and pressure, and is soluble or completely dispersible in water or a lower alcohol is produced by reacting an organopolysiloxane of formula I (R1 is 1-22C satd. alkyl or phenyl; R3 to R5 are each R2 or a group of one of formulas II-VII; p1 is 100-4,000; and q1 is 1-300) with a poly (N- acylalkyleneimine) having reactive terminal ends and obtd. by the ring-opening polymn. of a cyclic imino ether of formula VIII (R1 is 1-22C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, or aryl; and n is 2 or 3).
