To provide a casing material formed of a tubular film for packaging a food such as a sausage, cheese or the like or more particularly a recycled cellulose.

The tubular film contains a material recycled from a cellulose solution and dried. The recycled tubular film is oriented by 8 to 40% in a lengthwise direction and simultaneously by -20 to +40% in a lateral direction at the time of swelling. The orienting is maintained during drying, the combined orienting in the lengthwise and lateral directions is sufficient to increase a surface area of the film by at least 10% from a surface area immediately after recycling. The tubular film has a wall thickness of about 60 to 90% of the same tubular film not combination oriented.
