PURPOSE: To obtain an original handling device which has improved the operability and has a designating function of an optional area of an original, by a simple constitution, by providing the first and the second containing means for containing an original which is discharged from a prescribed position, and a control means for selecting the first or the second containing means in accordance with a selection of the first or the second original carrying means.

CONSTITUTION: Feeding rollers 23, 24 are pressed against each other, place a sheet original between them and carry it. A stopper 25 for obstructing a feed of the original onto a platen glass from a digitizer feed paper port is released by an operation of a digitizer inlet stopper solenoid 29, and the feed can be executed. The original which is fed out by the carrying rollers 23, 24 from the digitizer feed paper port is fed along a guide plate, and fed onto the platen glass from the right end part of the whole surface belt. Also, all rollers and the whole surface belt are driven by a motor 19, a clock disk for generating a clock pulse at the time of its rotation, and a sensor 20 are provided, and by this clock, an operation of an original handling device (DF) is controlled.
