PURPOSE: To obtain an original plate for direct lithographic printing preventing the occurrence of scumming and having superior desensitizing properties, by a method wherein at least one of resins containing at least one functional group selected from a among a specific group in the side chain is contained as a main component of a binder in an image recording layer.
CONSTITUTION: In an original plate for direct lithographic printing having an image receiving layer on a substrate, and least one of resins containing at least one functional group selected from among a group shown by a general formula (-O-L-) [where, L represents a group (a), b, c, d, e, or f; where R1, R2, R3 may be similar or different to /from each other and represent hydrogen atom, hydrocarbon group, or -O-R' (R' represents hydrocarbon group); Y1, Y2 repre sent hydrocarbon group; Z represents oxygen atom, sulfur atom, or -NH-; and X represents sulfur atom or oxygen atom] in the side chain is contained as a main component of a binder in the image receiving layer. When an image is formed with an oil ink, etc. on the image receiving layer as an image part, the original plate for direct lithographic printing is enhanced in adhesion of the receiving layer to an oil ink, etc. and in plate wear because it contains the lipophilic group shown by the general formula (-O-l). On the other hand, in a non-image part, the general formula (-O-L) group is hydrolyzed or decomposed by adding hydrogen due to a desensitizing liquid and dampening water to become a carboxyl group, whereby the non-image part is made hydrophilic. Therefore, the non-image area is clearly divided from the lipophilic image area, furthermore, being prevented from the adhesion of the printing ink in printing.
