To fix an original in a reference position of a platen without making it an obstacle to reading operation.
An original holding part 22B holding the original D placed on the platen 22 from the platen side when a platen cover is closed is provided on the platen 22. An electrode to which voltage is applied is installed inside the original holding part 22, and the original is held by electrostatic attractive force generated by applying voltage to the electrode.
