Abstract:
To improve the biocompatibility of UHMWPE to be used to make an orthopedic device.
Crosslinking UHMWPE is exposed to a temperature of ranging from 120 to 270C and pressure of ranging from 0.000001 Torr (equivalent to 1.310-4 Pa) to 100 Torr (equivalent to 13.3 kPa), so that the low-molecular weight compounds can be removed from the UHMWPE to be used to make this orthopedic device.
